Print Media
Print media and leave behinds remain a ubiquitous part of a communications. I have led the development and production of high quality, effective, branded, print pieces for nearly 10 years in my work with Colorado State University and Larimer County Natural Resources.
Other print pieces associated specifically with an event or an advertising campaign are listed on those pages on the site.

Warner College Departmental Brochure Series
A project with a solid template that I inherited, I led the development and did much of the writing, editing, and image acquisition (both selection as well as using my own photography) of a series of brochures for Warner College of Natural Resources Academic Departments.
These pieces serves as a broad overview and introduction to the academics, research, and outreach of the five Warner College Departments. |

Promotional Posters for College Events
Here are some examples of posters I have designed to promote Warner College of Natural Resources events.
Development Proposals
Often I am called upon to put together branded proposals for Warner College development efforts. Here are a few recent examples.

"Help Preserve Open Spaces" sales tax
These print pieces were produced as a part of a campaign I led to educate the public about the funding for the County Open Lands Program, the "Help Preserve Open Spaces" sales tax. This undertaking was meant to raise public awareness of the sales tax prior to it being placed on the ballot for renewal by the counties Board of Commissioners.
This infographic explains the sales tax that was passed in 1995 and 1999. This is now a standard part of department displays (in 34x43 foam core format) as a handout (11x17) and online. The illustration and layout was done by Melissa Brock, the graphic designer on my staff at the Department and I wrote the copy and developed the concept. The 'rack card' style flyer I wrote and designed explains the differences between the previous tax and the ballot measure. Careful attention is paid to only offer the facts in these pieces in order to avoid a potential conflict of interest. |
Larimer County Natural Resources 60th Anniversary
2014 marked the 60th Anniversary of Larimer County Natural Resources. As a part of the campaign to highlight this milestone the poster to the right was produced. The poster was fabricated in a number of sizes for the poster hanging (11x17), wall display and office decoration (18x24) portions of the campaign.
I worked with the senior management team to develop the concept for the poster. The illustration and layout were done by Interpretive Graphics under my supervision. |
Larimer County Natural Resources Annual Report
Each year Larimer County Natural Resources produces an annual report in coordination with the Public Works Communication team. In previous years I was responsible for writing, image acquisition, and helping with the layout concepts. The 2013 Annual Report was my project to manage and I worked with an in-house graphic designer to establish a template which I then finished completely.
The cover design and seal demonstrate the use of the Department's new brand identity. We also decided to expand the page count in this particular issue in order to give the content a bit more room to breathe. Graphics from the "Help Preserve Open Spaces" sales tax infographic were reused in the document to highlight that particular funding source for the Department. View the full report by clicking on the cover to the right. |
Rattlesnake Education Rack CardInteractions with rattlesnakes are a common source of concern and fear for visitors to Larimer County Natural Resources properties. I researched, wrote and designed the Rattlesnake rack card for distribution in our offices and trailhead kiosks to help address those issues.

"LC" marketing Stickers
The "LC" stickers are a simple promotional tool to highlight some of Larimer County Natural Resources most popular open spaces and parks. The concept was developed by myself and a senior manager in the Department and the design was carried out by Interpretive Graphics. Since we've started putting them out they've been a big hit with visitors and we're even starting to see them on cars around town too!

Robert's Ranch System Explanation InfographicIn early 2013 Larimer County Natural Resources was embroiled in a controversy related to a potential donation of the historic Roberts Ranch in Livermore. I was asked to design this infographic showing where the Roberts Ranch would fit into the Department's land management portfolio to illustrate the County's thinking about the project at public meetings related to the subject.

Natural Resources Large Format Banners
These large format banners were created so that Larimer County Natural Resources could capture some attention during the Pro Cycle Challenge in 2013. Lots of media and national coverage of the race around Horsetooth Reservoir afforded us the opportunity to get our brand and name out during the coverage.
Since then we've used them at many different events to highlight the Department's involvement. We worked with Interpretive Graphics in Utah on this project. |
Trailhead Flyers
Dogs are consistently a management challenge at Larimer County's Parks and Open Spaces. This trailhead flyer was intended to target dog owners and get them to adhere to regulations related to hiking with their pets.

I worked with our Weeds District Staff and an in-house graphic designer to develop the "Habitat Hero" concept to encourage visitors to use the online weed reporting tool on the Weed District Website.

Education Program Promotions
Over the course of my tenure as Education Program coordinator for Larimer County Natural Resources I developed a number of print pieces in order to promote the education program and the trainings offered for volunteer naturalists. These pieces served to market those offerings and came in handy when communicating with teachers for school field trips and other groups who were interested in having a guided hike or talk from our staff or a naturalist.
Trail Tips Brochure
The Trail Tips brochure was intended to streamline a series of brochures that covered a variety of different topics related to using trails at Open Space areas. I selected the best information from those brochures and combined them into this larger format brochure with the idea that visitors likely would not enjoy grabbing different pieces of media where one could suffice.
