Event Planning
I have over 10 years of event planning experience for events large and small at Colorado State University and Larimer County Natural Resources. From large community festivals to public meetings for planning efforts, I have applied a tried and true project management approach to event planning to great success. I have also led teams responsible for event planning and mentored others with advice and assistance about events they were coordinating.
National Get Outdoors Day - Noco
Larimer County Natural Resources became involved in National Get Outdoors Day - Noco in 2013, and took over the organization of the event, which I led for two years, in 2014.
A community-wide event, the festival aimed to inspire parents to get their kids outdoors more often. The Department dedicated a wide array of resources as result of the Plug in to Nature Project which recommended more outdoor skills building for parents. I chaired the event steering committee, which included a wide variety of partners who planned out family-friendly engaging activity booths, divided into villages at the event. In it's first year with Larimer County coordinating the planning the event drew in over 2,000 people (up from 300 visitors the previous year). I was responsible for most aspects of the events planning and set up a committee structure to ensure each village was planned properly. I worked with our in-house designers and Interpretive Graphics on event media I didn't personally produce. I handled all of the advertising for the event and locked in key sponsors including University of Colorado Health and REI. I also emceed the event. We also partnered with Get Outdoors Day in Denver on branding, advertising, t-shirts and giveaways. This relationship helped us leverage the size of the two events to gain efficiencies of scale. |

River Bluffs Open Space Grand Opening and Grant Award Ceremonies
I organized and carried out several events related to River Bluffs Open Space to open it to the public and secure grant funding from Great Outdoors Colorado.
I coordinated the Grand Opening for the property and assisted with the presentation materials, press engagement and tours for the $5.25M grant for the Poudre River Trail. The slideshow below was used in the grant presentation to the GOCO board along with a powerpoint presentation that I developed. |
